Fall 2022-2024 Fellowship Scholarships
The scholarships listed below are available to Fellowship-Accepted participants who will not be receiving financial support from their institution to complete this program. Please see below for specific scholarship details. You only have to submit one scholarship application. We will consider you for any of the scholarships for which you qualify. Selected candidates will only be awarded one scholarship. Enrollment in 2022-2024 Fall class is mandatory. All our scholarships are need-based so FAFSA scores and statements of need are highly recommended.
Up to $7,500 Scholarships for Fall 2022-2024
These competitive scholarships will be available to any Fellowship-accepted participant and are up to $7,500 each. The Center typically provides four (4) scholarships per class. The scholarship awards are dependent on several factors: quality of essay (How you plan to use the Fellowship to make a local, regional and national impact), program application, CV, statement of need, FAFSA, and letter of support from your director or a colleague. Work with underserved populations is a plus but not a requirement.
Scholarships for Participants Practicing in Underserved Areas
The Andrew Weil Center for Integrative Medicine is committed to bringing integrative medicine to underserved populations.
We have scholarships of up to $15,000.00 available to accepted participants serving an underserved population. Please include a short statement of how you serve these patients. Please indicate in your statement if you work for the Indian Health Service, in a Federally Qualified Healthcare Center, or a Community Healthcare Center. If you are an international participant, please include a short statement outlining the underserved population you serve.
The amount of the scholarship is dependent on several factors: quality of essay, program application, CV, statement of need, underserved statement, FAFSA, and letter of support from your director or a colleague. We would also want to see a long-term commitment to working with underserved populations.
Scholarship for PAs, PharmDs, and APRNs
There is one scholarship for up to $15,000.00 available for an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse, PharmD or a Physician Assistant. The amount of the scholarship is dependent on the quality of essay, program application, CV, statement of need, FAFSA, and letter of support from your director or a colleague.
Stamets Indigenous Healing Scholarships
Thanks to the generosity of a donor, a scholarship of up to $15,000 will be awarded to applicants already accepted to the Fellowship in Integrative Medicine who have experience in modern biomedicine and indigenous healing and show a commitment to bringing integrative care to indigenous communities and areas of the underserved.
Applicants should have training in healing that is derived from an indigenous tradition or community from any area of the globe and/or be providing healthcare to an indigenous community. (Indigenous for this scholarship refers to healing traditions originally practiced by local healers in the culture it originally served.) Please send us a statement of your involvement in indigenous healing traditions.
Nutritional Fundamentals for Health Inc (NFH) Fellow Award
Recipient must be accepted into the Fellowship and must start in the Fall 2022-2024 class on August 1st, 2022. The recipient of this award must primarily provide medical services within a medically underserved community and must demonstrate financial need. This scholarship of $10,000 will be awarded to one person.
Lovell-Jones Rheumatology Scholarship
This scholarship is made possible by the David Lovell & Lura Lovell/Alana S. Jones & Colburn A. Jones Endowed Chair in Integrative Rheumatology, which is currently held by Dr. Andrew Weil.
This 75% tuition ($21,787.50) scholarship is available to support both new and established academic rheumatologists who wish to incorporate integrative modalities into their practice and teaching. Successful applicants will have a strong commitment to practicing integrative rheumatology and will serve as a community and academic center resource for physicians, residents, and Fellows. The long-term goal is for this physician to become a mentor and instructor in the training of future rheumatology fellows, and to serve as an advisor to the Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine.
The scholarship is dependent on several factors: quality of essay, program application, CV and letter of support from your director or a colleague. In order to be eligible for this scholarship you must be a practicing rheumatologist, or a rheumatology fellow affiliated with an established US Academic Medical Center or University.
Scholarship Application
Before applying for a scholarship, you must apply and be accepted to the Fellowship. Once you have received your acceptance notice:
Prepare a 500-word essay explaining why you wish to participate in the Fellowship, how you intend to use the knowledge and experience gained, and how this will impact your community.
Request and obtain one letter from your institution director, supervisor, or a colleague endorsing your work and application to the Fellowship. This letter should include:
- Their awareness and endorsement of your application in the Fellowship
- Recognition that, if selected, recipients will be expected to adhere to the curricular schedule outlined in the program. This commitment includes an average of 8-10 hours of online and/or other learning for the duration of the program. You are required to stay current with your coursework and attend virtually or in person all three required residential retreats in Tucson,
- Documentation that you are in good standing within your clinical setting.
- Comments regarding your work performance and personal characteristics.
Optional materials to provide to the scholarship committee to demonstrate need, work with the underserved or experience with indigenious medicine. One or more of the listed materials may be provided.
Complete a FAFSA and upload your FAFSA Confirmation Page Email. A FAFSA allows the scholarship committee to compare need objectively. Your FAFSA is being used for evaluation purposes only, the center is unable to offer federal loans to pay for the Fellowship. All our scholarships are need-based so FAFSA scores and statements of need are highly recommended.

June 1, 2022 is the deadline to submit your Fellowship application in order to be reviewed in time to apply for scholarships. June 13, 2022 is the deadline for submitting a scholarship application for the Fellowship class starting in 2022 Fall.
